It’s been a very busy week, and I am a bit behind on my blogging. I have several photography sessions clients are waiting to see photos from, and here is one of them! I had the pleasure of working with Myleen recently, she and I did a session in Fish Creek Park here in Calgary. It was a gorgeous sunny day that made it quite nice for strolling around the park. Here are some of my faves from the day:

Thanks so much Myleen, for your willingness to stomp through brush and climb trees in high heels. Seriously, this girl isn’t scared to go for it, for creative locations and poses. Kudos!

I’ve realized I didn’t make even one post at all in February! I’ve been super busy booking weddings for this summer and fall. September’s been a very popular month for brides and grooms in 2010, and June as well. Unfortunately I’ve had to turn quite a few couples away due to being booked already, but I do still have some availability — but it’d be good to contact me soon if you’re interested in booking me as your photographer. I look forward to shooting all of my Calgary weddings… lots of variety and I am pumped about the creative possibilities this year. Not to mention the portrait and family sessions I have booked, too!

I did want to take the time to post, because I have also been busy working on new disc packaging for my clients. I really strive to provide a great Calgary wedding photography product and experience, unique to each person or couple I am photographing. So it was important to me that my packaging reflect that. I/m a big believer in clients having their high res photos on CD or DVD (as far as I am concerned, they are my clients’ images!). So! Here’s how all of my 2010 clients can expect the presentation of their final product:

The discs come in a Redfern Photography tote bag, making them easy to carry. Each disc comes in an enameled tin, which includes a mini folding card with a license agreement (so you can print your images at any lab). They are bound with a black hemp twine, which you can just slide off one end to open the tin. Both wedding photography and portrait photography clients will receive their discs this way.

I’m super happy with the way these came out, and truly feel that they fit well with my brand and my photography!

Family Portraits Sneak Peek & Closing out 2009

Wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that I am officially not accepting any more bookings for 2009 (or for the early part of 2010)! Thank you so much to everyone whose portraits I was fortunate to capture, it was a great year. My prices will also be going up a bit with the change of the year, so if you were thinking of booking with me for a wedding next year, I would get that deposit in to get this years’ prices.

Last month, Tavis organized a session for his whole family; for his Mom & Dad, their three kids and their spouses — including two adorable babies! I wasn’t sure if the finicky Calgary weather would cooperate for this late-in-the-season fall shoot, but it did. We had a great day and they were an absolute delight to work with. Lots of fun!

I call this one “yin-yang”. These were two very calm, happy and well-behaved babies for the entire shoot. It was so cute, the little girl was very happy to be laying on her back on the blanket, but the baby boy (who was all smiles previously) immediately started crying when he was put down. Poor little guy, he was only on the blanket for a few moments and it made him so unhappy!

Super fun group, and really good jumpers (lookit that air!). Thanks to all of you and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

Diane & Shawn’s Family

Over the last several months, I have been privileged to do three separate shoots for the same family: Diane’s maternity shots, newborn photos of Poet, and last weekend, a family session with the entire group. It was a unique opportunity to really have everyone get very comfortable with me, and to get used to seeing my camera clicking away.

I am still working on the photos from our last shoot, but here’s a few of them as (yet another) sneak peek:

We were lucky to get one of the last nice days of the year, it felt almost like summertime! It was a session that highlighted what a challenge it can be to be so cruel as to bring kids to the park on a nice day, and instead of being able to run around, some lady with a camera starts telling them to stand in one spot and look at her. The nerve of grown-ups! But seriously, thank you all so much for letting me into your home and to be able to spend time with you to capture your portraits.

Actor and voice talent Michael McAdam needed a new headshot. We had a lot of great, fun shots from his session, but there can only be one! The largest one is the one we chose for his final, the rest are some extras.

Mark Lorenz – Country Music Artist

So, I did go ahead and get the new camera, it came with a 28-135mm lens. I love it! Really enjoying it thus far, just wish it weren’t so cold out (around -30) right now so I could get outside and run around with it some more. Hopefully this cold snap will break soon, brrrr.

I did have the opportunity on Saturday to do a shoot for a local musician, Mark Lorenz. His manager set up a local dealership showroom for us, so the shoot was all about cars, trucks, and a bit of country music. Here are a few sneak peeks, more to come on my flickr page, eventually. It was a great session and I had a lot of fun.
