Yesterday afternoon I had a fun session with this family of three. We tried to get the dog in there for a number of the portraits, but he wasn’t cooperating! Baby Kaelyn, however, was all smiles and so patient for the photo-taking process. I probably shouldn’t say this, but it makes my job very easy to capture images of an adorable, smiling baby. Shhh!

I thought this ruffled diaper cover was the cutest thing. Ruffles are fabulous on a girl of any age!

Baby Kaleb – Calgary Family Photographer

Yesterday I did a fun family session, which was with mom, dad, and three-month-old Kaleb. The Calgary weather didn’t cooperate so we didn’t get a chance to get everyone outside, unfortunately. At least there was lots of lovely bright morning light inside where it was warm. Here are a few, and there are even more on the Facebook page.

He’s such a cute little guy!

It was nice to get a chance to get some couple photos in with mom and dad once Kaleb went down for a nap, too…

Baby Mateo – Calgary Family Photography

Today I had the pleasure of doing a newborn/family shoot, with a beautiful family of five. Here’s a quick sneak peek of a few of the photos from today:

I have never seen kids of this age who are such naturals in front of the camera. These little boys were so good, and so patient and willing to sit and have their picture taken! It made it very easy for me.

Baby Mateo is adorable, and just a dozen days old — and was also very patient with all of the goings-on. I’m sure that once he gets a little older, he will join his brothers in being a fantastic and willing subject, since he’s already well on his way.

Laura & Kyle Family Portrait Session

This was my last portrait session of the year (well, almost, we’re sneaking one engagement session in later this month!). It’s a challenge in Calgary because once the frost hits, all of the plants die and everything turns the same greyish, brownish, non-colour. The grass dies, the leaves shrivel on the trees, and it only gets dustier and more grey as the winter progresses. Sigh! But we braved the park last weekend for these family portraits — it was chilly and windy but at least the sun was shining and the air was fresh. Here’s the sneak peek:

Someone, at some point, had built a cool little lean-to fort thing by the creek, I’m not sure when… but couldn’t resist using it in some photos.

You can tell in this one that baby got his mom’s beautiful blue eyes:

Thank you guys so much for a great session and for being so brave in the weather. Your little one was so well-behaved for his age and the cold weather!

I’ll be away this weekend, I’m jaunting off to Vancouver for a few days on Thursday evening, but will get back to photo processing and replying to inquiries when I get back.

Family Portraits Sneak Peek & Closing out 2009

Wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that I am officially not accepting any more bookings for 2009 (or for the early part of 2010)! Thank you so much to everyone whose portraits I was fortunate to capture, it was a great year. My prices will also be going up a bit with the change of the year, so if you were thinking of booking with me for a wedding next year, I would get that deposit in to get this years’ prices.

Last month, Tavis organized a session for his whole family; for his Mom & Dad, their three kids and their spouses — including two adorable babies! I wasn’t sure if the finicky Calgary weather would cooperate for this late-in-the-season fall shoot, but it did. We had a great day and they were an absolute delight to work with. Lots of fun!

I call this one “yin-yang”. These were two very calm, happy and well-behaved babies for the entire shoot. It was so cute, the little girl was very happy to be laying on her back on the blanket, but the baby boy (who was all smiles previously) immediately started crying when he was put down. Poor little guy, he was only on the blanket for a few moments and it made him so unhappy!

Super fun group, and really good jumpers (lookit that air!). Thanks to all of you and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

Trisha’s Family Photos – Calgary Photography

Still catching up on the many shoots I have had over the last several weeks. If you are still waiting for images from me, I apologize. But know that I’d hate to rush through them, quality is very important to me. I will get there! In the meantime, here is a sneak peek from a recent family shoot. Trisha and her family were wonderful to work with, and it was such a gorgeous day out. Not too hot, not too cold — really lovely for wandering around the park.

Family Photos in Riley Park, Calgary

Earlier this month, myself and this family of five (six including the dog!) braved the chilly weather to get some family photos in the park. We cut the session shorter than planned because we were all getting a bit uncomfortable. Brrr! So strange how the weather so suddenly turned. Here is their sneak peek:

Despite the cold, it was a great session, and I love that they integrated the dog into their family photos. I was able to capture her running around a bit too! Thanks for a fun afternoon and your patience with the chilly, blustery weather.

Diane & Shawn’s Family

Over the last several months, I have been privileged to do three separate shoots for the same family: Diane’s maternity shots, newborn photos of Poet, and last weekend, a family session with the entire group. It was a unique opportunity to really have everyone get very comfortable with me, and to get used to seeing my camera clicking away.

I am still working on the photos from our last shoot, but here’s a few of them as (yet another) sneak peek:

We were lucky to get one of the last nice days of the year, it felt almost like summertime! It was a session that highlighted what a challenge it can be to be so cruel as to bring kids to the park on a nice day, and instead of being able to run around, some lady with a camera starts telling them to stand in one spot and look at her. The nerve of grown-ups! But seriously, thank you all so much for letting me into your home and to be able to spend time with you to capture your portraits.

Family Shoot @ Weaselhead

I am trying to keep up with my blogging a bit more over the last few days, ’cause it’s one of those things that can fall by the wayside when you’re busy — and it really shouldn’t.

On Thursday evening I had a session with a big family group, at a park in the South. I had never been to Weaselhead before, it was very pretty and a great location. The last days of summer are so lovely and warm, with a golden quality of afternoon light that you only get this time of year. I’m still processing the rest of the photos, but here are a few sneak peeks…
