Calgary Wedding Photographer | Redfern Photography bio picture

I'm Lisa Redfern, a photographer based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, specializing in weddings and portraits -- people are my primary subject. I shoot in a portrait journalist style, which is a combination of capturing moments as they happen, and posed portrait shots.

This all started for me in university, where I shot my first wedding in 1997, while I was studying photography (it was film and darkrooms back then!). Photography brings so much happiness not only to my life, but also to my clients. Being allowed in to peoples' lives and events is such a happy privilege, I feel very honoured to be capturing memories and sharing in special occasions.

My purpose in blogging is for my clients to have the chance to get to know me a bit better in the comforting glow of their own computer. I don't take myself too seriously, and want every session to be a fun experience for myself and my subjects while striving to capture beautiful images. The most frequent comment I get at the end of a shoot is "that was fun!", which is about the best compliment I could get.

Heather & Bryan – Calgary Wedding Photography

As I mentioned in my previous post, the wedding I shot on Saturday was one of the coldest ever! I did an engagement session with Heather and Bryan a couple of months ago, and it seems like hardly any time had passed until it was their wedding. It was a beautiful day, and Heather and Bryan are incredibly easygoing and a delight to photograph. I did some ‘getting ready’ photos with the bride and bridesmaids before we headed to the church for the ceremony. We stopped for a few photos at Heritage Park afterwards. Here’s the sneak peek!

I was bundled up in my wool coat and had my scarf wrapped around most of my head, and I could barely stand it. But that bride, that incredibly determined and brave bride, with her bare arms, stood in the -30C plus windchill weather and smiled for her wedding photos. I think that is amazing.

Congratulations to you both!
